Summary
All stakeholders in countries including the government, the public and the governments’ watchdogs have their distinct roles in fighting terrorism.
Various, if not all governments in the world have had to rub shoulders with the media over reporting on terrorism related issues as lack of balance creates loopholes in the fight against terrorists, giving the terrorists an advantage over security forces.
For this reason, countries establish clear networks of communication to provide the public with necessary information and updates on terror. In many circumstances, given countries have law enforcement procedures in the event in which there is a breach on the network, which could include a jail term or a particular fine.
As countries all over the globe carry out a crackdown on terror, it is important for the media to join the war and use their public command to warn against dangers of radicalization and the true face of terrorism rather than misinforming the public.
