March 24, 2016: Embakasi Humanitarian Peace Support School is the host to the East African military, police and civilian components dunned Ushirikiano Imara 2016 expected to run for the next fortnight.
Ushirikiano is Swahili for ‘Cooperation’ which is the headline for the exercise as laid out by the director Maj. Gen B Biwott during his opening speech.
The EAC Command Post Exercise (CPX) Ushirikiano Imara is designed to ride on the core pillars of peace support, counterterrorism, counter-piracy and disaster management. These pillars are set up to bring all the actors in the security sector together in planning and developing strategies that will avert or resolve crises adequately.
The Ushirikiano Imara 2016 has attracted 250 participants from Kenya, Burundi Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania. The exercise is expected to run from Thursday March 24th to April 4th. The exercise is conducted on rotational criterion with countries taking turn to host it; Rwanda-2011, Burundi-2013 and Uganda-2014.
