An attack linked to the Somali based militants Al-Shabaab has left at least 17 civilians killed at the Beach View Cafe on Mogadishu’s popular Lido beach.
Reports indicate the militants detonated two car bombs at the Café.
Somali government forces responded to the attack engaging the militant in a gun battle for hours.
According to police officer Osman Nur to addressing media, the siege ended at 3.a.m. with dozens of militant reported to have been all killed in the crossfire.
