



EVENTS ANALYSIS IN SUMMARY
- Continued counterterrorism operations in Somalia and Kenya, northeastern; upper and Lower prefectures, coastal regions and across regions of the two countries have significantly slowed Al-Shabaab activities.
- In the past two weeks at least 12 Al-Shabaab terror events were recorded.
- 11 terror incidents recorded happed in Somalia while incident recorded happened in Kenya’s, Garissa prefecture.
- At least 6 incidents were recorded in every week.
- Al-Shabaab concentrated in capital Mogadishu with 7 terror incidents being recorded with a total of 36 casualties and undisclosed number being wounded.
- Data sets indicate that the Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia continue to target security forces and Government personnel.
- In the capital Mogadishu, the use of car bombs, IEDs, VBIED and has seen civilian casualties increase after terrorist’s missing their primary targets.
- For example, a heavy explosion rocked several buildings along the busy Maka Al Mukarama Road in Mogadishu with at least 25 civilians reportedly being killed.
- Compared to previous events recorded in January and Mid-February, terror events reduced in Lower Shabelle region of Somalia in the past two weeks. The same observation for Upper Juba and Middle regions of Somalia.
- One terror event was recorded for Kenya. Al-Shabaab targeted Kenya Police vehicle in Garissa prefecture, between Hagardere and Amume. No casualties were reported.
