Algerian Defense Ministry in a statement has confirmed that counterterrorism units killed three armed militants in two separate operations in the northern part of the country.
The Defense source further noted that, on Tuesday, army troops conducted a search operation in the woods of Ain Defla province, about 150 km northwestern Algiers, where two armed militants were killed.
In another operation conducted on Monday, army troops killed a high-ranking terrorist figure in an ambush set up by army troops in the upper woods of Skikda province, about 400 km eastern Algiers.
This terrorist nicknamed Abu Dhirar is believed to have been in the terrorist camps since 1995, the source added.
The statement said that these results come to confirm the efficacy of the approach adopted by the commandment of the National People’s Army in a bid to eliminate the phenomenon of terrorism and maintain security and calmness across the entire national territory.
The statement indicated that the counter-terror operations still underway.
