A group of Somali Legislatures were ambushed by members of Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen movement when their convoy was heading to Baladweyne.
The yesterday attack occurred in El-ali village in Baladweyne with at least two security forces injured.
Two Somali Federal legislatures Dahir Amin Jesow and Mohamad Omar Godir managed to come out of the attack unhurt when AMISOM and SNA forces fiercely faced off with the Mujahideen fighters.
Notable in the convoy was a former Hiiran region Vice Governor Mohamad Ibrahim Sanbur who commended the security team for repulsing the attacks successfully and making them get to Baladweyne safely.
Daahir Amin Jesow also commended the security forces for wading off the terrorists and their fierce bravery combat which saw six Al Shabaab fighters killed.
Al Shabaab militants have a strong presence in Hiiran region and have previously committed quite a number of high profile assassinations of well known elders and politicians.
Al Shabaab who thrives in amplifying those kind of attacks for warfare/propaganda purposes has not commented on their losses.
