A top Somali army commander survived an ‘assassination attempt’ on Tuesday night in capital Mogadishu.
Corresponding reports from witnesses and referenced by major open sources in Somalia indicate that a Somalia military official identified as Col. Adan Rufle, narrowly escaped an attempt on his life at Nasteho village in Mogadishu last night (Tuesday 28/2/2017) when unkwown gunmen on a motorbike open fire closeby.
Same day a senior NISA officer was killed after bomb fitted into his car exploded in Mogadishu's Dharkenley district. Al-Shabaab believed to be behind these attacks.
Recently, the Al-Shabaab’s spokesman Ali Mohamoud Rage also called (Ali Dhere) issued a statement saying that the group will increase attacks on Somali’s capital, Mogadishu.
The attack Col. Rufle is the latest in series of targeted assassinations in the seaside city since the election of the new President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on February 8, 2017.
