
Latest indicate at least people have been killed after pro-Saudi militants battle Houthi fighters and Yemeni forces in a renewed effort to capture Yemen’s third biggest city of Ta’izz.
According to military sources, 37 members of Yemeni forces and their allied Houthi fighters and six civilians were on Friday evening killed in deadly clashes that involved Saudi warplanes.
Fourteen pro-militants loyal to former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi were also killed in the Saudi aerial assaults.
Saudi Arabia has been pounding Yemen from air, sea and ground for a year now in a bid to restore Hadi to power.
The governor of Ta’izz Ali al-Maamari said pro-Hadi forces captured key areas in the western and southern suburbs of Ta'izz, including the district of al-Misrakh.
