Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Qian Jian has said that China will actively support the Horn of Africa nation’s peace and reconstruction process as part of the bilateral pact between the two countries.
The support will mainly comprise of economic and social development projects that will aid the country to acquire political stability. China has become a very active partner to most countries in Africa and especially in East Africa, where it has been termed as the preferred new development partner for most African countries.
The Chinese government has been involved in over 80 infrastructural projects like hospitals, stadiums, and roads to ease the burden of the Somali people in the past two decades.
China identifies that while AMISOM and other allied forces are working tirelessly to ensure that the political stability and national security is installed, the efforts could prove less than effective without a strong strategy for social and economic development. Therefore, China has promised to be actively involved in offering both financial and technical assistance in the reconstruction of Somalia.
