Friday 24/3/2017, a car bomb believed to be detonated by a suicide bomber exploded near a popular restaurant and hotel in Mogadishu. The car bomb blast left one person killed and five others wounded.
Corresponding reports from witnesses and referenced by major Somalia media indicate that a blast occurred on a busy outside Banooda restaurant and Central Hotel. The explosion happened within proximity of the presidential palace.
No one or group has claimed responsibility but Al-Qaeda linked extremist group Al-Shabaab has been behind most car bombs targeting popular joint in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.
In the beginning of the week, a car bomb exploded at a checkpoint in Mogadishu killing 6 people and leaving several others wounded. Al-Shabaab through their pro-media claimed responsibility but exaggerated on casualties as part of their propaganda warfare purposes.
