Female captives of Boko Haram extremists that included women, girls, and their children were stoned to death by the extremists moments before Nigeria troops caught up with them for a rescue mission.

Troops from the Nigerian military have been able to free close to 700 women over the past one week but not all the victims of abduction were freed from the fangs of Boko Haram extremists.
According to a survivor of the stoning, the female captives who ended up being stoned to death refused to flee with the Boko Haram extremists who were on the run from the Nigerian military.
Nigerian military has also claimed victory in destroying dozens of insurgent camps hiding in the woods, including the group’s major hideout in Sambisa forest.
A Nigerian military spokesman said the Boko Haram’s victims were rescued in Sambisa forest where the insurgent group has been holed up for a long time.
Those who have been rescued so far have been taken to an old deserted school, known as the Malkohi refugee camp by the Nigerian military for further profiling.
Boko Haram seeks to create a caliphate in western Africa, a bid in the course of which the group has snatched at least 2,000 women and girls from their families since the start of 2014, according to Amnesty International.
