The Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) in the Democratic Republic of Congo recorded the highest number of casualties since 2017. The group conducted two overnight attacks in Boga and Tchabi villages in Ituri Province which are ten kilometers apart killing at least 50 people.
Preliminary reports indicate that at least 28 people had been killed in Boga and 22 in a displaced people camp in Tchabi. Houses were burned and civilians abducted by the group that appeared to have been more organized than in recent attacks.
ISCAP has been conducting attacks in Ituri Province and targeting community and religious leaders who appear to pose a threat to the group’s agenda in eastern DRC. Despite North Kivu and Ituri Province being under military leadership, it appears to not have deterred the attacks by the group.
