Sunday 26/2/2017, Anti-terror detectives gunned down a most wanted terror suspect in Msambweni of Kwale County.
During the incident, the detectives recovered a hand grenade, a thunder flash explosive and a detonating cord with a fuse.
The most wanted terror suspect identified as Mohammed Juma Mwamuraji, 44 years old. According to the detectives Mwamuraji has on their radar since his return from Somalia.
The raid was done jointly by Anti-terrorism police unit (ATPU) and flying squad based in Diani.
Mwamuraji is among the most several other wanted terrorist returnees who are being trailed by the multi-security agencies.
The anti-terror detectives following on intelligence raided the home of the Shebab operative in Mbuwani village, Mbongwe sub-location and when ordered to surrendered he confronted the officers with a hand grenade and subsequently he was felled.
The make of the grenade is yet to be established.

Further police probe reveal the slain Shebab operation was married to a Tanzanian woman namely Kimolo Batuli Waziri of ID number 724468 and holder of Tanzanian passport no. AB 448779.
According to Newly posted Msambweni police boss Joseph Chebusi, Kwale County has a large number of Al-Shabaab returnees, then Kilifi, Mombasa and Lamu respectively.
Chebusi reiterated of security agencies cooperation in neutralizing the threat posed by the Somali based Islamist group, Al-Shabaab. However, he called on the citizens in these named regions to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security forces.
He also emphasized that the terror operatives have no place to hide saying raids will continue until the war on Al-Shabaab comes to an end.
