Military report from Somalia indicate that AMISOM troops successfully thwarted an attack by the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab on Tuesday, 6th November 2018 at around midday.
A small group of Al-Shabaab fighters attempted to stage an attack at an AMISOM Forward Operating Base (FOB) in general Mirtugo area, near Mahaday town, about 120km north of Somali capital, Mogadishu.
AMISOM confirmed of the attempted attack on its base saying that about eight Al-Shabaab operatives with two technical and disguised in Somali army uniform, infiltrated the Mirtugo market and opened fire on civilians while on their way towards the AMISOM base.
AMISOM troops responded to the gun fire and successfully fend off the terrorist fighters. The details of the how many militants were killed during the incidents remains unclear.
