Military Intelligence reports confirm that AMISOM troops in SECTOR-1 have advanced to Janaale town after the Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia, Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen terror movement ambushed Uganda People Defense Forces (UPDF) at their base on the morning of 1st September 2015.
Drones have been conducting surveillance on the town since early morning after reports confirmed the attack on the UPDF -AMISOM SECTOR-1 Base in Janaale, about 90 km (55 miles) south of the capital, Mogadishu.
The terrorists deployed a donkey laden with a powerful improvised explosive device to detonate the Janale bridge and cut-off the base from reinforcements from Bufow army camp which is about 10 kilometers from Janaale.
They militants then used a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (SVBIED) to ram through the gate and subsequently breached the gates and started shooting.
AMISOM denied claims that the base was over-run by the terrorists though local authorities in that particular area report the attack without mentioning its breach, which concludes propaganda by the Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen terror movement.
Reports further confirm the Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen terror movement elements have pulled out of the base and the area fearing advancing AMISOM troops.
