African Union Mission in Somalia has refuted Al-Shabaab propaganda claims of killing African Union soldiers near Afgoye town.
AMISOM issued a statement downplaying information peddled by Al-Shabaab on its affiliated online media that its fighters killed AU soldiers.
AMISOM however confirmed that the Islamist militant group targeted their convoy travelling about 9km from Afgoye on the road to Ceel Jaale in an Improvised Explosives Device (IED) attack but no casualty was reported.
The statement further noted of improved collaboration between AMISOM and SNA in ensuring clearance of main supply routes for easy access of humanitarian activities.
In the last two days, our EOD team has safely removed and destroyed two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDS), AMISOM said in a Twitter post.
