AMISOM in Somalia has announced that it has killed the chief financial controller for al Shabaab in Lower Shabelle. Reports say that the commander, the head of the tax collection in Lower Shabelle region was killed during an ambush in Bariire.
The commander, whose name is yet to be released was killed after the AMISOM troops ambushed a meeting by the extremist group, al Shabaab, in Bariire area located approximately 60km south of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.
The killing is one in a series of killings of commanders and high-ranking officials in the terror group by the allied troops and Somali forces in what is attributed to the enhanced cooperation between all actors involved.
