OSINT reports indicate that Al-Qaeda linked Islamists’ miltants attempted to lay siege on Puntland military base in Galgala Mountains.
Al-Shabab militants fired heavy mortar rounds targeting Puntland Daraawiish forces in Galgala Mountains this morning, security sources have reported.
The dawn attack was targeted Af-urur military base about 70 km west of Bosaso port town, according to sources.
Military sources further report that Puntland forces swiftly respond with shelling mortars at different locations prompting the enemy to disintegrate and fleeing into the thicket.
Intelligence on Al Shabaab Islamist group in Somalia has pointed that the outfit is attempting to ideologically inspire followers and sympathizers through religious symbolism and acting using religious events told in the Holy Koran in theater to sell the extremism and advance on their sole goal of overthrowing international aided government and installing their strict Islamist Sharia Law.
Unfortunately, such violent extremism is impermissible and is viewed legally, as terrorism and crime that attracts severe punishment (death).
