An expeditionary strike force drawn from a unverified AMISOM unit has launched an assault at a base which houses the top Al-Shabaab leadership in Baraawe.
Scores of Al-Shabaab fighters are confirmed dead.
The commandos mounted ladders and provided fire cover as the special forces stormed the building.
The Somali’s AL-Qaeda linked group AL-Shabab has since then deployed their anti aircraft missiles pickups around the area.
In coming days, top leaders of the militant group will be taken out by special AMISOM units to degrade the operational and leadership capacity of the militants.
