A Somali military court has sentenced an al Shabaab operative to 15 years for being a member of the terrorist organization as well as purposing to commit crimes in the name of the terror organization. The terrorist identified as Ali Mohamed Abdullahi was apprehended by security forces back in May in Mogadishu.
According to the prosecution’s case, Mr. Ali was masquerading as a soldier with the aim of carrying out assassinations in the country’s capital, Mogadishu. He was apprehended with military attire and weapons including one AK47 riffle, two hand grenades and magazine gun holder with six magazines.
According to the court statement, he joined the group in 2013 and was trained in Al-Shabaab training base identified as Uteyba and was given taught how to assemble and dissemble riffles including AK47, PK machine gun, launching of RPGs.
