The Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen Movement, Al-Qaeda’s branch in Somalia started operations against pro-ISIS units in Somalia.
The operations involve arresting, detaining, and possibe execution of errant members of the terror group after the former spiritual leader Abdul Qadir Mumiin, formerly UK-based, pledged allegicance to ISIS alongside 20 of his fighters.
According to Reuters, one of the members of the Mumiin unit contacted their news desk and confirmed 20 fighters alongside the sheikh joined ISIS and have so far moved away to another location in the Galgaa Mountains in Puntland.
The Al-Shabaab has so far arrested and detained several top figures in the last 24 hours including Mohamed Abdi Adam a Senior figure in the Intelligence wing (Amniyaat).
The group has also restricted watching of ISIS videos at their bush camps to preempt radicalization to ISIS by its fighters.
