Recent operations by the Somali and AMISOM forces have pushed Al Shabaab fighters from their major bases in Somalia. The destabilized terrorist group has however continued to attack Somali government and the AU bases.
Militants belonging to the terrorist group Harakat Al Shabaab Al Mujahideen on Friday 10 th July, 2015 carried out twin attacks on the Siyad and Weheliye hotels in the Somali capital city of Mogadishu, killing 10 people.
This comes as the Muslims wind up their Ramadan celebrations.
Analysis of the Attacks
Al Shabaab has continued to wage attacks against the Somali government even as they lose foot in most of the major bases they earlier controlled. They have been able to do this because of their guerrilla style of ambush and attacks.
Al Shabaab had promised to intensify their attacks during the period of Ramadan. Most of their planned attacks have however been thwarted owing to credible intelligence and the co-ordination among the troops in Somalia.
Forecast
Al Shabaab attacks are however less co-ordinated and soon, they will give in due to lack of communication, poor co-ordinated commissioning and the general lack of resources.
