23rd November 2015, At least 5 Kenya Army (KDF) officers were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on roadside between Hulugho and Galmaga area some 40 kilometers inside Somalia hit their patrol vehicle.
The Somalia based jihadist group the Al Shabaab believed to have planted the roadside IED targeting the army convoy through their propaganda wing rushed to claim credit on the attack.
Through their spokesman and spiritual leader Sheikh Abdulaziz Abu Musab, the militant group claimed the responsibility of the attack but exaggerated on the casualty.
Al Shabaab thrives in propaganda, increasing fictitious numbers of casualty as a psychological warfare strategy.
KDF’s spokesman Col David Obonyo through a statement said the military vehicle had only 5 soldiers that were injured and were all evacuated for medical attention.
Kenya Defence Force is operating in Somalia under the banner of African Union peacekeepers, AMISOM.
