Latest reports from Somalia indicate that operatives from Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen (HSM) have reportedly abducted Somali humanitarian staff including doctors near Baraawe town in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle province.
The Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab terrorists are known to abduct aid workers in Somalia in a view to take food and medical supplies. The terrorist group in turn reportedly distributes the stolen aid supplies to the areas under its control in a bid to win public support from the starving locals.
Though the reason for their abduction has not been confirmed, a brief report from open sources indicate that the victims were abducted near Baraawe town at gunpoint while heading to an Al-Shabaab controlled drought-stricken locality on a nutrition campaign mission.
