AMISOM and allied forces have captured more territories from Al Shabaab in Hudur region. The territory liberated today from terror forces is located approximately 15 miles from Hudur – a town located in Bakol region in Southern Somalia. Ahmed Maalim Ahmed, the town’s mayor, has confirmed that the terrorists were dislodged. The terrorists have used the region to plan and launch attacks against the UN-backed multinational forces and Somali government targets.
In related news, at least a dozen terrorists were killed today after Al Shabaab attacked AMISOM troops in Barawe town. The al Qaeda affiliated terror group launched the predawn attack on AMISOM bases prompting the troops stationed therein to engage the terrorists in a battle. Intelligence sources reveal that the ensuing heavy gunfight was punctuated with instances of shelling. Ultimately, the terrorists were repelled after suffering considerable losses both in terms in human resources and military hardware.
Abdulkadir Mohamed Nor Sidii, the governor for Lower Shebelle, confirmed the attack and also corroborated that the terrorists were repelled from the town. The fighting in Barawe comes a few hours after Somali national troops engaged in a deadly firefight with Ahlu Sunah Wal Jamaah militants in Guricel – a town located approximately 250 miles North of Mogadishu.
