AMISOM forces have announced that they arrested 9 Al Shabaab militants during an operation backed by Somali National troops in the southern region. Among those arrested were an Al-Shabaab commander and explosive expert.
The AU mission said the operation, which was carried near Sabiid Anole town in Lower Shabelle, about 40 km south of Mogadishu, saw Al-Shabaab commander and explosive expert arrested. The militants were in possession of IED (improvised explosive device) making materials which they intended to use to build explosives.
