Heavily armed fighters linked to the Al Shabaab militants attempted to attack on a government army base near Afmadow town on Friday 30th October 2015 were successfully repulsed.
The Al Qaeda affiliated Al Shabaab fighters launched an attack at the military base prompting a fierce response confrontation between both warring sides.
While confirming the terrorist’s incident, a senior Jubbaland army officer told local media that the Somali government troops managed to repulse the assault and subsequently inflicted heavy losses on Al Shabaab militants during the counter-attack.
Dozens of Al Shabaab militants were killed while scores others fled wounded.
