The Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen Movement (HSM) clashed with Somali National Army SNA) troops in the Lower Shabelle region of Somalia on Sunday.
The terror group issued a detailed statement through one of its propaganda wing, Al-Hijra claiming that its fighters had defeated Somali national troops.
In the statement, Shabaab also claimed that its fighters assassinated Somali Intelligence officer who was stationed in Mogadishu’s Dharkenley District.
The Al-Hijra statement has been given credit by the official spokesperson of the terror group, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Abu Musaab.
While Al-Shabaab exaggerate the outcome the clash, Mogadishu has been mute about the causalities and actual victims of the attack.
Al-Shabaab thrives in propaganda, and most of the times their elements amplify on their behalf to motivate its foot soldiers and also to prove their relevance/loyalty to their parent group.
