The Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia, the Al-Shabaab claimed a suicide car bomb that killed six people, destroyed a government building and a Quran school in central Mogadishu.
The attack happened on September 2 and targeted a local government office in Hawlwadag district, Mogadishu.
At least six people were confirmed to have been killed including soldiers, civilians and the suicide bomber. Authorities also confirmed that another 14 people were injured including 6 children.
Abdiasis Abu Musaib, Al-Shabaab’s military operations spokesman claimed responsibility of the attack that left innocent Somali civilians killed and others injured besides destroying a Quran school.
The school was open but at the time of attack, most children were away from the building on a break with six reportedly being injured from the blast.
