Al Shabaab militia group on Wednesday shot dead deputy commissioner of Wadajir district, Abdifatah Baare, in Mogadishu.
The group is said to have tracked down slain deputy commissioner and shot him several times before he died on the spot.
Somali police have now mounted a manhunt for the attackers who immediately claimed responsibility for the attack through one of their affiliated websites.

The attack comes a few days following the appointment of a new Police Commander who is expected to continue mopping out Al Shabaab terrorists from Somalia.
Somali based militants, Al Shabaab, has staged several attacks against the Somalia government which has in-turn vowed not to relent in fighting against them.
These fights have trickled down to Kenya which is sharing a border with Somalia, where the insurgents have their bases.
AMISOM troops on the other hand have liberated major towns from the Al Shabaab as they continue to push them towards the Horn of Africa.
Somalia has been a war torn country since 1991 when Said Barre, a military dictator was ousted.
