Al-Shabaab have fired a barrage of mortar shells on a Kenyan military base in Fahfadun, intelligence reports confirm.
Intelligence gathered form Gedo region confirm that Al-Shabaab launched an attack in Fafahdun in the Gedo region.
The firing was well coordinated confirming initial planning and surveillance on the Kenyan and AMISOM assets in the area.
Al-Shabaab Islamist militants launched a series of mortar fire in the town attacking Somali National Army and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) bases.
It is possible that serious causalities were suffered in the AMISOM base. “It is about death and serious causalities, a military source reported.
It is no secret that Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) under AMISOM suffered losses in Fahfadun, intelligence source verified.
Counter attacks have been launched and the areas surrounding the town are being searched by Kenyan Military.
Analysis on Strategy and Command Issues
Strategic Intelligence sources confirm that there is a problem in the command structure of AMISOM and there is an existing lapse in the operations scope.
Kenya has a very good strategy, but they are not receiving orders from their war planners and Generals, rather from other commanders in the AMISOM command.
If the battle strategy and command are chained to people who don”t understand operations and geography of enemy areas of operation, these scenarios of enemy combatants making high scores is not strange.
The Kenya defense forces have no option than to detach themselves from the command or risk losing more men and assets than during their 3 year winning blow to Al-Shabaab.
This itself strains the strategy of the KDF and only exposes them to these attacks.
