The Al-Qaeda aligned Al-Shabaab militants early Wednesday 21st August 2019 attacked Somali Federal Government forces military base in Qoryooley town of Lower Shabelle region.
Military intelligence assets in the area report that Al-Shabaab attacked Somali military base in Qoryooley town but the forces successfully repulsed the attack and killed four Al-Shabaab fighters.
The attack prompted almost an hour of fierce fighting between the Somali army and heavily armed Al-Shabaab fighters
Al-Shabaab has increased its campaigns targeting government military bases in the southern part of Somalia.
