Africa Oil will drill 3800 meters in its oil wells in Somali Puntland, the company has disclosed days after upping its security plans around the Dharoor and Nugaal Valley Blocks.
Africa Oil confirmed the existence of a working petroleum system in its Shabeel-1 well which is currently at 2400 meters depth.
Africa Oil will drill Dharoor and Nugaal Valley Blocks with Horn Petroleum already drilling its first well in these blocks.
The company said it spudded Shabeel-1 starting January 2012 and currently has managed to drill 2400 meters depth on the oil well.
In the Shabeel-1 interbedded sandstones and shales of the Upper Cretaceous in age have exhibited oil and gas, confirming the existence of a working petroleum system.
According to the company drilling of the Shabeel-1 well will be complete April of 2012. So far testing equipment is currently being mobilized to the site the company told away.
