At least 31 militants loyal to the Islamic State (IS), also known as Daesh terrorist were reported to have been killed, and 16 others critically injured in air and ground operation conducted by the Afghan forces in the past 48 hours in northern Jawjan province.
“31 Daesh fighters including three group leaders, and an intelligence in charge of the group for the province were killed in an operation carried out by commando forces in Darzab district of the province,” said Provincial Governor Spokesman, Mohammad Reza Rezai.
Three Uzbek national terrorists were among the killed militants, he added, confirming injury of 16 other ISIS militants during operation.
Five villages were also cleared from ISIS presence, he said, adding Afghan Air Forces too supported ground forces.
