A senior Al-Shabaab commander on Sunday surrendered voluntarily to Somali National Army in Baidoa town, southwest Somalia.
According to the Somali National Army sources, Adow Maalin Isaq, who was a top bomb expert and operator surrendered voluntarily to the Somalia government.
Isaq confessed that whilst in the terror camp, he was behind several past explosions. He defected from the terrorist group after his dissatisfaction with the killing of hundreds of innocent Somalia people in the October 14, 2017, Zoobe bombing.
His defection is a huge blow to the Al-Qaeda linked militants as was in charge of making IEDs that has become an effective method used by the militant against government forces and AMISOM troops.
Somali Army Commander noted that, Isaq was in charge of huge explosions and training, saying he operated in Bay, Bakool, Gedo, lower Jubba and Benadir regions.
SNA Commander of the 60th battalion Ismail Khalif Shire called on members of Al-Shabaab to defect from the group and benefit from the government amnesty.
