SOMALIA: Tuesday 5th October 2015, the President of Central State of Ahlu Sunna, Sheikh Mohamed Ali Hassan declared to launch a major military offensive campaigns against scathes controlled by Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen militants in central Somalia’s Galgadud province.
According to Mr. Hassan, his troops would launch military offensive on militant held areas in the region as soon as possible and as a matter of agency aimed at restoring peace and stability of the region.
Amid the president’s announcements, military operation against Al Shabaab is still ongoing in the areas aimed at flushing out the militants from their hideout and he only stressed the operation will intensify in the coming days.
The Al Qaeda branch in Somalia still holds large territories in the rural areas in the south and central of the country, the ongoing military operation is expected to battle the militant to their last element until peace is restored in Somaliland.
