National government is set deploy additional 20 Kenya Police Reservists-KPR to every village where Operation Linda Boni is being conducted.
The police reservist will help boost security in villages among them Pandanguo, Jima, Nyongoro, Kaisari, Nyatha, Milimani, Basuba, Mangai, Mararani, Kiangwe, Bodhei and volatile areas along the Lamu-Somali border.
Deployment of KPR officers was revealed by Operation Linda Boni Director James Serian while speaking to the public in Hindi town on Thursday. Bigger and more populated villages will receive at least 40 KPR officers, Serian added.
Serian emphasized the objective of deploying KPR officers to ensure they conduct their day-to-day duties without fear.
The deployed officers will soon be all armed with modern guns and other weaponry to enable them conduct security tasks effectively.
Serian however called on locals to accord the security personnel towards dealing with crime and insecurity.
He noted that since the security operation began a year ago, relative calm has been witnessed since security forces continues to register gains in flushing out Al-Shabaab militants and containing hotspots that had been turned into hideouts by the militants.
