Latest military reports from Somalia show that a senior Al-Shabaab militant surrendered to the Somali government forces in the town of Garbaharey in Gedo province.
According to the military sources, the terror operative who was identified as Abu Mujaahid, surrendered to the government on Tuesday morning.
In the past months, armed men and fighters in the armed group Al-Shabaab affiliated to Al-Qaeda have denounced the terror group taking advantage of amnesty offer by Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo calling on them to surrender.
Those who have surrendered, reported to be undergoing rehabilitation programmes. Many regret the senseless killings they have engaged against their innocent countrymen.
