ISIS executed18 of its own fighters in northern Iraq on the allegations that the men were in communication with the Kurdish soldiers with the aim of surrendering.
The Islamists are known to execute their own fighters if suspected to defect to poor performance in battle.
The 18 executed are Arabs that had join the Islamic State after they took over the area. They were said to want to surrender to peshmega forces that are in the area.
IS had made prior preparations by planting bombs in building, bridges and roads and therefore slowing the soldiers movement and quick recapture of the city.
“We can confirm that 120 fighters have been killed by ISIS, but from our sources on the ground we believe that over 200 have actually been killed,” said Rami Abdurrahman, director of the human rights group speaking on the number of IS fighters killed by IS.
