The Kenyan government is offering a reward of Kshs 5,000,000 (approximately $58,000) to anyone with information that would lead to the arrest or apprehension of Ahmed Iman Ali (alias Abu Zinira al-Kenyi) and Mohamed Mohamud (aliases Dulyadin and Gamadheere). The two aforementioned persons are high-ranking commanders within the hierarchy of the Al Shabaab terror group; and are also the chief organizers and coordinators of the activities of the Kenyan branch of Al Shabaab.
They are armed and trained terrorists; and anyone who sees them or has any information about them should contact the authorities.
Mohamed Mohamud hails from Garissa town in North-Eastern Kenya. He is suspected to be currently based in Gedo region where he commands a group of terrorists. Ahmed Iman hails from Majengo, Nairobi and is an engineering graduate from a Kenyan University. The two culprits are instrumental to the operations of Al Hijra – the Kenyan branch of Al Shabaab. Ahmed Iman is also believed to head the media wing of the terror organization.
Al Hijra is a covert Islamist organization based in Majengo area and is made up of radicalized youths who seek to destabilize Kenya besides operationalizing al Shabaab infrastructure in the country. It evolved from the now almost defunct Muslim Youth Centre (MYC) and was initially led by Ahmed Iman Ali before he crossed into Somalia (and joined the ranks of Al Shabaab central) in 2009.
