The US government has created a Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center (CTIIC) which will be a fusion center that assesses, integrates and provides timely all-source cyber threat intelligence with the relevant authorities, and policymakers. CTIIC is subordinated under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
CTIIC seeks to enhance the synchronization of intelligence collection with critical cyber operations. The fusion center also aims to secure networked critical infrastructure from intrusions and unauthorized access besides enhancing collaboration and information sharing between the government and the private sector. The center has already developed guidelines for receipt, utilization, retention and disclosure of critical information. CTTIC hopes that its guidelines will complement the existing government-private sector relationship.
Cyber security experts have welcomed the formation of CTIIC as a timely and vital organization that will greatly bolster cyber defense while concurrently mitigating the effects of cyber-attacks.
CTIIC acts a virtual war room where complex data flows will be centralized, filtered, mapped out, compared and acted upon thereby using sensor data to accurately map out the cyber environment thus enabling decision makers to easily understand the state of cyber affairs.
