Yusuf Hassan Abdisalam Yusuf a man arrested by Kenya police has admitted to being Hanafi the Somali journalists killer.
Hassan Hanafi was arrested in Kenya early August 2012 by police following intelligence tip-offs.
Hanafi is linked to dozens of Somali journalists deaths and he is a senior intelligence official of the Somali Al-Shabaab terror group.
The man who is linked to the Al-Shabaab terror group will be extradited to Somalia for prosecution.
Analysis
Dozens of Somali journalists who have authored articles that are critical of Somali government officials have been killed and others jailed.
The Journalists are hunted down by both government and Al-Shabaab intelligence unit Amnyaat.
These events when pieced together draw out a picture of a common strategy to suppress flow of critical information about both militants activities and government failures and activities that do not represent progress towards good governance and democracy.
However, Somalia will not make strategic geopolitical gains without media freedom which itself empowers foreign players to gather invaluable intelligence on the country.
