An operation led by AMISOM troops in Somalia led to the killing of a senior leader of the Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia, commander Sheikh Abdirashid Baka.
The man was killed in a gunfight at Xero-2-aad’ approximately 3km from Qoryoley in Lower Shabelle region.
He was leading a group of militants who staged an attack on African Union peacekeepers of AMISOM and the Somali National Army.
The militants attack was repelled in the Qoryole district of Lower Shabelle region monday afternoon.
Several militants were killed alongside their leader commander Sheikh Abdirashid Baka.
