The 90,000 acre Ol-Pojeta conservancy has acquired a license to use aerial drones to combat poaching in the Kenyan wildlife sanctuary.
Ol Pejeta conservancy will this June launch the aerial ranger, a drone that will conduct real-time surveillance of the animal sanctuary.
For 3.2million Kenyan shillings, the aerial ranger will provide the much required security to animals conserved at the ranch, Ms Elodie Sampere has confirmed.
Increased poaching has forced the government of Kenya to seek better avenues to stop increased cases of poaching in the country
Ivory and rhino horns have become highly sought by poachers who have outsmarted government wildlife police.
Ol-Pejeta has bred 100 rhinos since it started a rhino protection program.
There are numerous losses of rhinos to poachers who now use electronic tracking systems to track rhinos and evade wildlife officials securing game reserves and private wildlife conservancies.
