Major General Kayanja Muhanga of the Ugandan Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) has revealed that the joint military operations being carried out by the UPDF and the Congolese military (FARDC) have been making positive strides. He said one of the major successes of the allied troops’ intervention is cutting the recruitment networks of the jihadists.
He acknowledged that while ISCAP was not yet eradicated, the alliance had succeeded in interrupting their contacts, their recruitment of combatants, their logistic supplies, and all their networks in the North Kivu and Ituri Provinces.

Intelligence has since revealed that the joint forces have dislodged the militants from some of their most strategic camps in Yuwa, Tondoli, Lusulubi, and Belu.
Owing to the pressure from the joint forces; ISCAP has been seeking alternative recruitment avenues as evidenced by the recent jailbreak in Butembo over 800 inmates escaped.
