In yet another brutal suicide operation in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, the Al-Qaeda aligned Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility of the attack that left at least eight people including a mother and two children.
On Saturday 25th September 2021, a suicide car bomb killed at least eight people in the Somali capital at a street junction near the president’s palace. Initial reports indicate that the Islamist militants that prefers suicide missions especially in the capital targeted a convoy that was going into the palace.
Al-Shabaab continues to massacre civilians in their course perpetrating attacks that usually they say are targeted at the ‘apostates and infidels. In this suicide operation, Al-Shabaab through its military operations spokesperson, Abdiasis Abu Musab boasted that a Mujahid driving a suicide car bomb targeted a convoy of cars going into the (presidential) palace causing fatalities.
Al-Shabaab, which wants to overthrow the weak federal government and impose its interpretation of Islamic law and frequently carries out such bombings, confirmed the group was behind the attack. Such attacks slowly are resuming in the capital and usually deadly since they cause significant number of casualties besides destruction of property.
