The Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab in the past few days has suffered humiliating defeats following army operations in a number of localities in central and southern Somalia.
In one latest army operation, at least 19 Al-Shabaab terrorists were killed and several fled with gun wounds following an armed fight that took place in Daynunay, southwestern Bay region of Somalia.
Local sources reported of heavy weaponry being heard as security forces clashed with Al-Shabaab terrorists.
Daynunay is a strategic small town, located about 222 kilometers (137 miles) from Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, and 20 kilometers (12 miles) to Baidoa town the administrative capital of Bay region of Somalia where Al-Shabaab have persistently fought over the years in an effort to gain control.
Daynunay army operation follows similar other military assaults against the Islamist Al-Shabaab recently conducted in localities of Middle Shabelle region where the terrorist group reportedly has suffered setbacks.
