The US forces conducted an airstrike in the vicinity of Buulo Fulaay, Bay region of Somalia, killing an Al-Shabaab terrorist and destroyed one compound on Jan 13.
US Africa Command (AFRICOM) confirmed of the airstrike targeting the Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Shabaab in the Horn of Africa nation in support of the Federal Government of Somalia.
The latest airstrike in Buulo Fulaay combined with other recent strikes shows US resolve and commitment of US to degrade Al-Shabaab’s ability to threaten Somalia and her neighbors.
Initial assessments indicate the airstrike killed one Al-Shabaab operative and destroyed one compound and that no civilians were injured or killed as a result of this operation.
The airstrike comes even on the wake of the much-anticipated US withdrawal of its troops from Somalia.
