At least 13 civilians killed with a majority being children were killed by a female suicide bomber in Mozogo village in the northern part of Cameroon. The suicide attack was accompanied by an ambush by Jihadists brandishing machetes and other weapons who detonated the suicide vest during the commotion.
According to HUMINT, the jihadist entered the village shouting “Allah Akbar” at night causing panic in a region that is marred by a growing threat of terrorism that has spilled over from neighboring Nigeria. As the residents attempted to flee into the forest, the device was detonated taking out the thirteen people among them two children and six teenagers.
The northern region of Cameroon is in the tri-border area with Niger and Nigeria and Chad and in the recent past, Boko Haram has been stepping up attacks that are deviating from the typical use of crude weapons like machetes, sticks, and knives to include Improvised Explosive devices (IEDs).
