The Al-Qaeda aligned Al-Shabaab dealt a heavy blow after it lost key villages in Lower Jubba region of Somalia in joint military operation.
Somali army soldiers supported by AMISOM forces raided Al-Shabaab hideouts in Lower Jubba, southern Somalia, killing at least six Al-Shabaab operatives and liberating four key villages.
Corresponding local reports indicate that liberated villages included Hawaljiri, Bernasey, yaq-Bishaar and Osbo and several fighters killed.
The mop-up military operations follow increased militant activity in southern regions of Somalia which include Gedo, Lower Shabelle, Lower Juba and Middle Juba regions. The terror operatives have increased assaults on SNA and allied troops assets in these regions.
In the past few weeks, upsurge in militant activity on military bases and troop’s convoys have been recorded. The militants have attacked heavily fortified facilities including AMISOM-ENDF bases and their convoys severally, SNA bases have been raided, U.S-SNA operated base in Baledogle airfield in Lower Shabelle and a TurkSom military base in the Jazeera area, south of Mogadishu.
